Dog with broken neck dumped in wheelie bin

A dog suffering a broken neck and legs was found dead in a Wirral wheelie bin.

The female shih tzu was discovered by a member of the public in the bin at the front of their house in Eastview Close, Prenton on Tuesday afternoon.

A plastic bag bearing the words ‘Do not open until Christmas Day’ had been used to hide the deceased dog as well as a pink hoody and a strip of red carpet.

The RSPCA have confirmed that the dog suffered a catalogue of injuries including the broken leg and neck, extensive bruising, a prolapsed eye and multiple puncture wounds to her lower jaw and legs.

Animal cruelty investigators are appealing for information about the incident and have described the hoody as being an XXL size with ‘Discover Life Club’ on the front.

RSPCA inspector Anthony Joynes said: “The injuries don’t appear to be consistent with her being hit by a car and I am concerned as to how she got them.

“I am appealing for any information as to what has happened to her and how she has ended up dead in a bin.

“Someone must know who this dog belonged to, or recognise the hoody.

“I am keen to find out what has happened in this little dog’s final moments as it is clear she must have suffered immensely.

“I would urge anyone with any information to come forward.”

Anyone who has any information is urged to contact the RSPCA in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018.
