Man injured in attack outside city centre restaurant

Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked outside a Liverpool city centre restaurant.

The 21-year-old victim was outside the Shangri La restaurant on Victoria Street at around 3.30am on Sunday when he was assaulted.

He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury where he currently remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detectives are looking to trace a man in connection the incident. He who is described as being in his 30s, of heavy build and with a skinhead-style haircut.

He was wearing a long sleeved grey knitted jumper and it is believed he was with a group of males who left in the direction of the Shankly Hotel.

An investigation is underway and CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the area.

DCI John Webster said: “Despite the time the incident took place we believe that area of the city centre would still have been busy with people and traffic.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity who may have witnessed the incident or saw anyone fitting the description of the male to contact us.”
