Lewis Dunne’s killers jailed for minimum of 88 years

The three killers of Lewis Dunne will serve a minimum of 88 years each in jail.

Jake Culshaw, John Martin, and Paul Martin were unanimously found guilty of the teenager’s death by a jury of nine men and three women at Liverpool Crown Court.

Lewis was killed by a singular shotgun blast as he walked through Eldonian Village on November 15 last year.

Culshaw, of no fixed abode, and Paul Martin, from Anfield, have each been handed minimum terms of 30 years.

John Martin, also from Anfield, was sentenced to a minimum of 28 years behind bars.

Jurors heard that the 16-year-old’s death may have been perceived as a rival gang member by the trio in a case of mistaken identity.

Prosecutor Ian Unsworth QC told the court: “His attackers had armed themselves with a loaded shotgun and, in a cowardly attack, shot Lewis in the back as he made his way past them.

“Lewis had no axe to grind with the men. He was simply on his way to a shop. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“As he lay helpless on the ground, his attackers simply ran away together.”
