Lawyers acting for Ross Barkley have confirmed that the Everton midfielder was punched in a Liverpool bar.
CCTV footage appearing to show the attack on the footballer emerged just hours after he had starred in his side’s Premier League win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Barkley was pictured speaking to an unidentified man in a bar, believed to have been popular city centre venue Santa Chupitos, with no signs of conflict.

The man then threw two punches causing the England international, 23, to fall to the floor before his attacker is dragged away by nearby on-lookers.
“Merseyside Police is aware of footage online reportedly showing an assault in a bar in Liverpool city centre,” read a statement.
“No report of an assault has been received but officers are making enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident.”
Everton have yet to comment on the incident.
