Palermo ‘right place’ for Liverpool FC misfit Mario Balotelli

Palermo believe they are the ‘right place’ for Mario Balotelli to revive his career.

The striker remains out of favour at Liverpool, little more than two years after his original £16 million arrival, and is seeking options elsewhere.

A number of clubs in the former Italy international’s homeland have expressed an interest, with Palermo being the latest to go public.

But Balotelli’s £90,000 per week salary is expected to remain a significant stumbling block to seeing him return to the Sicilian town, also his birthplace.

But the Serie A club’s sporting director Daniele Faggiano is hopeful that the 26-year-old can be convinced to return to his roots.

“We think that Palermo could be just the right place for him to relaunch his career,” he told Mediaset.

“We would welcome him like a great champion, who with the talent he has got could get back into the national team.

“The only obstacle is his salary, but his desire could shift the balance in Palermo’s favour. We’re waiting for his decision.

“If Mario doesn’t come, we could sign (Diego) Falcinelli, but there are other names too.”
