Everton face stern opposition from Sunderland in their attempts to land Yann M’Vila.
M’Vila, 26, was overlooked for Rubin Kazan’s pre-season tour of Austria after helping the Black Cats beat Premier League relegation on loan last season.
With only six months remaining on his contract with the Russian side, the Blues have emerged as potential challengers for the midfielder’s signature.
But the former France international has admitted to Sunderland fans on Instagram that he favours a return to the Stadium of Light.
He said: “I want [to rejoin] but it’s not my choice.
“I want Sunderland, not another club, but the choice is Sunderland.”
