Brendan Rodgers trumps Liverpool FC to summer signing

Ex-Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has got the better of his former club after Celtic won the race to sign Moussa Dembele.

Rodgers was succeeded by Jurgen Klopp after he was deposed as Anfield boss last October but has bested his replacement in landing the Fulham forward.

Dembele is set to join the Scottish champions on a free transfer despite interest from a host of clubs from across Europe, including the Reds.

The 19-year-old’s existing contract at Craven Cottage expired after failing to agree an extension with the Championship club, who will receive a development fee of around £350,000 due to the player being under the age of 24.
