Liverpool FC see £20M bid rejected for 31-goal striker

Liverpool have reportedly seen an opening bid for Islam Slimani rejected by Sporting Lisbon.

Slimani had a sensational season that saw him score 31 goals across 46 games as the Portuguese side finished second in the Primeira Liga table behind champions Benfica.

His impressive form has caught the attention of clubs in England as reports coming from Portuguese outlet Noticias ao Minuto that claim Arsenal and Liverpool have both seen opening bids of £20 million rejected.

Jurgen Klopp has already been busy in the market bringing in three new signings during his tenure and the Liverpool boss is hoping to strengthen his forward options as Christian Benteke prepares for departure.
