Paris Saint-Germain’s initial approach for Philippe Coutinho has been rejected by Liverpool.
Interest in Coutinho is set to hot up this summer with the Ligue 1 champions preparing to fight it out with Barcelona to prise the playmaker away from Anfield.
But reports suggest that the 23-year-old is unlikely to come cheap should he leave the Reds, after the club rebuffed an opening bid from the French champions, already well-stocked with Brazil internationals.
Marca claim that PSG’s opening bid for the player, understood to stand in the region of £23 million, was rejected out of hand by Reds officials.
Outgoing Barca full-back Dani Alves tipped his compatriot to make the grade at the Camp Nou rather than join the strong Brazilian contingent in the French capital.
Coutinho’s current deal with Liverpool is set to expire in 2020.
