Liverpool FC lining up £15M summer swoop for Bundesliga defender

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a summer move for Stuttgart defenderthis summer.

Reports in Germany claim that the Reds are set to rival Roma for the centre-back, who has spent this season on loan with the Serie A club, as Jurgen Klopp looks to rebuild the Anfield back line.

Schalke’s Joel Matip has already agreed to join Liverpool on a free transfer but Sport1 claim that Klopp has now turned his attention to a deal for Rudiger.

The Kop boss is said to have been an admirer of the 23-year-old from his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund and plans to table a bid of £15 million to the Bundesliga outfit.

When asked about his plans for next season, Rudiger remains hopeful that Roma will make his current stay a permanent one.

He said “I think the club [Roma] will activate my clause.

“Returning to Germany is not in my head. I think I made the right choice (joining Roma).

“There’s so much pressure here, both from fans and the media, but I’m fine”.
