Liverpool identify Coutinho’s replacement

Liverpool have made Thomas Lemar their chief target if Philippe Coutinho leaves.

Coutinho remains the subject of interest from Barcelona, who have restarted their campaign to lure the Brazilian to the Nou Camp at some point this month.

Should the Reds decide to allow the playmaker to join the Catalans, despite rejecting three bids last summer, a direct replacement is set to be sourced.

And according to the Mirror, that man has already been identified in Lemar after he emerged as a target for Liverpool in the last transfer window.

Anfield officials have already made contact with Monaco in an attempt to re-open negotiations for the midfielder on the back of last summer’s failed pursuit.

Lemar is considered as one of the best young attacking talents in Europe and it is believed he would command a fee of at least £90 million in the current market.

But Liverpool are not the only Premier League side interested in his signature, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United also said to keen.

However the player is thought to be leaning towards a move to Anfield because he wants to work Jurgen Klopp.
