Paulinho has told Philippe Coutinho to ‘stay calm’ about Barcelona’s continued interest.
The Catalans are expected to renew their pursuit of the Liverpool playmaker next month after seeing three bids rejected during the summer transfer window.
Coutinho’s currently superb run of form this season, where 12 goals in 19 games in all competitions to date has only helped to strengthen their interest in him.
Several key figures connected to the Nou Camp have courted the Brazil international in recent months, including Ronaldinho and Andres Iniesta.
Coutinho refuses to rule out leaving Anfield in January, having previously submitted a transfer request in efforts to force through a move to Barca.
But Paulinho, enjoying his first season with the La Liga leaders, has told his compatriot to remain patient as he waits for developments on his future.
“If he comes, he will not regret it,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“I have advised Coutinho to stay calm. He can feel frustrated at not having been able to come this summer. I lived the same thing when I was in China. Be patient.
“He’s a very fast, agile player, with a technique that gives a lot of options for those of us who play in the middle of the park. He looks for spaces to get to goal.
“I make jokes that people are already looking for a house for him.
“I try to give him the basic information, the most important for him and his family because maybe the time he lived here was not enough to know the city.
“But he knows that Barcelona is a very good city, that offers everything for him and his family.
“You have to think about the decision you are going to make. What I think is that if you have the opportunity to come, you will not regret it.”
