Steve Walsh’s role as Everton’s director of football is reportedly under threat.
Walsh arrived at Goodison Park in summer 2016 after his scouting helped Leicester City’s surprise Premier League title win in the previous season.
The talent spotter was credited with identifying the likes of N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez as the Foxes defied the odds to be crowned English champions.
However his position at Goodison Park is now believed to be facing firm scrutiny amid the club’s continuing search for Ronald Koeman’s successor.
A failure sign a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku has regularly been levelled at Walsh for the Blues’ botched summer transfer recruitment.
But the Times claim that the 53-year-old has no input on the hunt for the next Everton manager being led by majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Walsh’s £1 million salary is said to have led to questions on his role in the wake of the club’s abject start to the season which prompted Koeman’s exit.
Recommending Sam Allardyce for the Goodison hot seat was another factor understood to count against him after the former England boss dropped out.
Moshiri claimed on Friday that Everton were ‘close’ to appointing a manager with a shortlist of three candidates now expected to be decided upon.
