Everton ready to offer escape to Leicester striker

Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has emerged as a potential Everton target.

Slimani was previously linked with the Blues in 2016 before joining the erstwhile Premier League champions in a £28 million move from Sporting Lisbon.

But reports in the forward’s native Algeria suggested he is now considering his options at the King Power Stadium after falling down the pecking order.

Both Jamie Vardy and summer arrival Kelechi Iheanacho remain ahead of Slimani in the Foxes’ front line, prompting him to consider his options.

According to Algerian newspaper L’Expression, Everton could offer the 29-year-old an escape from his Leicester nightmare in the January window.

Watford are also a potential destination for Slimani with his former Sporting manager Marco Silva failing to lure him to Vicarage Road last summer.
