Walsh caused ‘chaos’ for Everton transfers

Steve Walsh has been accused of causing ‘chaos’ in Everton’s transfer dealings.

Walsh joined the Blues as director of football last summer and has overseen the club’s recruitment during the previous three transfer windows.

But reports in Holland allege that the former Leicester City assistant manager was culpable in the downfall of Ronald Koeman, who was sacked on Monday.

Tellingly Koeman omitted Walsh from a farewell message which thanked the club’ hierarchy, including majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright.

Algemeen Dagblad claim that Walsh was ‘green at the negotiating table’ as Everton failed to land both a left-back and a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The Dutch newspaper also state that the talent spotter’s ‘inability’ led to ‘chaos’ in the unravelling of Koeman’s Goodison Park tenure this season.

Koeman’s own failings were laid bare by AD, who cited his failure to build a relationship with Everton fans, lamenting him as ‘arrogant’ and ‘distant’.

David Unsworth has been installed as Everton’s interim manager for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea.
