Barcelona to revive Coutinho pursuit in January

Barcelona are planning to reignite their interest in signing Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool rebuffed all approaches for the playmaker from the Nou Camp during the summer transfer window despite a final £114 million offer.

But reports in Spain claim that the Catalan club are refusing to concede defeat in their pursuit of Coutinho, who scored in Saturday’s win over Leicester City.

According to Sport, Barca remain determined to land the Brazil international and could tempt the Reds into parting with him as early as January.

That renewed confidence comes from Coutinho’s desire to join the current La Liga leaders while Liverpool are said to be willing to consider a possible sale.

The 25-year-old submitted a transfer request in August, just hours after the Anfield hierarchy issued a public statement insisting he was not for sale.

Supposed leaked emails showed the stand-off between the clubs, with Liverpool telling Barca to ‘stop harassing’ Coutinho both publicly and privately.

Coutinho took part in Liverpool’s squad training on Monday morning ahead of their upcoming Champions League group encounter with Spartak Moscow.
