Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has left joined Crystal Palace in a £26 million deal.
The defender last played for the Reds over a year ago after he was suspended by UEFA for failing a drugs test, of which he was later cleared.
Palace took Sakho on loan for the second half of last season before injury curtailed his involvement in their successful battle for Premier League survival.
But the Eagles’ hierarchy have remained keen on the former France international and saw their third offer this summer finally accepted by Liverpool on Thursday.
Anfield officials had rejected Palace’s previous approach of an initial £22m with a further £3m in add-ons before agreeing terms on transfer deadline day.
Sakho travelled to London to undergo a medical to bring an end a difficult final 18 months at Liverpool due to a difficult relationship with Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp banished the 27-year-old from the club’s pre-season tour of America for persistent rule-breaking and later confined him to the under-23 ranks.
That followed an early-morning Snapchat outburst in which Sakho claimed a ‘lie’ was behind his first-team exile.
Although ineligible for his return to Anfield with Palace in April, he also courted controversy for carrying out a rehearsed goal celebration on the touchline.
