Juventus are reportedly launching an eleventh-hour bid to land Emre Can.
The Serie A champions had conceded defeat in their pursuit of Can despite his Liverpool future remaining undefined in the final 12 months of his current deal.
However reports in Italy suggest that Juve will make one last push in their efforts to land the midfielder this summer ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
La Stampa claim that the Bianconeri are preparing a £23 million bid for Can with fellow Germany international Sami Khedira and Claudio Marchisio both injured.
Juve are hopeful on securing the 23-year-old on a free transfer when his existing Anfield contract is set to expire but have been forced into an early bid.
Giuseppe Marotta, the club’s CEO, appeared resigned to Can’s prospective move to Turin being shelved for the foreseeable future in an interview on Wednesday.
“Emre Can is an excellent player,” he told Calciomercato.com.
“I don’t know if he will renew with Liverpool, but we’ll stay on the sidelines and watch.”
Jurgen Klopp admitted last month that he was confident Can would commit his long-term future to Liverpool following ‘good talks’ over the summer.
