Chelsea are planning to hold talks wtih Everton over a deal for Ross Barkley.
Barkley will miss Sunday’s trip to Stamford Bridge through injury but is currently the subject of interest from the reigning Premier League champions.
The midfielder, 23, has refused to sign a new long-term contract with the Blues as the final 12 months of his current deal continues to tick down.
Ronald Koeman warned Barkley that he risks being sold without a solid commitment with Tottenham and Chelsea emerging as potential suitors.
But various reports in London claim that Antonio Conte is hoping to steal a march on his local rivals in the battle for the England international.
Chelsea will reportedly aim to convince Everton chiefs Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright to part with Barkley at this weekend’s game between the sides.
Koeman has refused to rule out the possibility of the player being reintegrated into his plans but insists the decision rests with the Goodison Park hierarchy.
The Everton manager revealed earlier this month that no club has bid for Barkley as yet.
