Sadio Mane has emerged as a shock target for Inter Milan this summer.
Mane left a firm impression during a debut campaign at Anfield as he finished only second to Philippe Coutinho as the club’s top scorer last season.
But reports in Italy claim that Inter are planning to tempt the Reds over the pacy Senegal international with an audacious move to kick-start their transfer business.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri have identified Mane as a key option in the rebuilding of their team spine during the close season.
Inter believe that Mohamed Salah’s £36.9 million arrival at Liverpool could open the door for Mane’s potential exit due to the pair playing in the same position.
However Jurgen Klopp is not prepared to sell the influential 25-year-old as he looks to lead the club into the Champions League group stages next term.
Mane scored 13 times in 27 games after a £32m move from Southampton but saw his season curtailed by an ankle injury against Everton in April.
The forward’s exploits also earned him a place in the PFA’s Team of the Year.
