Liverpool FC wait for Oxlade-Chamberlain decision

Liverpool have made their first approach to Arsenal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The midfielder is continuing to stall on extending his time with the Gunners as his current deal prepares to enter its final 12 months at the end of this month.

Jurgen Klopp has monitored developments on Oxlade-Chamberlain with a view to a summer move and made an opening enquiry to Arsenal officials.

Although that approach has been knocked back, a lack of progress on the England international’s future may force the Londoners to sell him this summer.

Arsenal are expected to command a fee of £25 million for Oxlade-Chamberlain as he bids to stake a claim in his country’s squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Manchester City and Premier League champions Chelsea are also understood to be in the hunt for the 23-year-old.

He contributed two goals and seven assists to Arsene Wenger’s side as they reclaimed the FA Cup despite falling short of a Champions League place.
