Arsenal are reportedly set to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool this summer.
The forward’s future with the Gunners had been clouded in uncertainty as he is yet to agree a new deal ahead of entering the final 12 months of his existing contract.
Jurgen Klopp has identified Oxlade-Chamberlain as one of his key transfer targets and is reportedly set to secure the player’s signature in the coming weeks.
According to the Independent, Arsenal are prepared to offload the England international due to new legislation introduced by the Premier League.
The club’s wage bill is unable to exceed £7 million more than in the previous season or £19m over the figure during the 2012/13 campaign, five years ago.
Prospective new contracts for talismans Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez would see Arsenal breach the new Premier League rules, prompting a squad readjustment.
Several first-team squad mainstays at the Emirates Stadium would be culled and Oxlade-Chamberlain is widely expected to be among those being sold on.
The 23-year-old is likely to cost Liverpool in the region of £25m.
Olivier Giroud, ex-Everton target Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs, who previously attracted interest from Liverpool, are also likely to make way.
Contract talks had been planned between Oxlade-Chamberlain and the Arsenal hierarchy during the close season but are now unlikely to materialise.
