Steve Walsh in Milan as Everton FC eye Serie A deals

Everton are targeting a host of Serie A players including Carlos Bacca and Duvan Zapata.

Steve Walsh led a delegation from Goodison Park in Italy on Wednesday as they prepare to hold negotiations with AC Milan over potential transfers.

The Blues’ director of football was seen at the club’s Milanello base with a solution to Gerard Deulofeu’s long-term future firmly on the agenda.

Milan are keen to sign the winger permanently after a successful half-season loan but Ronald Koeman could also be luring several players from the San Siro.

Everton scout Carlo Jacomuzzi had admitted that Bacca, who attracted interest from Liverpool in 2015, is currenty among those under consideration.

Talks are also planned with Fiorentina and Napoli in the coming days, with Zapata also a subject of a potential approach from the Toffees.

But Jacomuzzi insists Everton will only commit to one of either Bacca or Zapata, for whom Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is demanding €25 million.

However plans to sign Dries Mertens and Faouzi Ghoulam have been shelved.

“Bacca and Zapata have interesting profiles, but [a move] for one would exclude the other,” Jacomuzzi told Radio CRC.

“These days we will talk with AC Milan, Fiorentina, Napoli and other teams – we’ll see if anything happens.

“We followed Dries Mertens and had spoken to his agent but that idea has now waned. Faouzi Ghoulam? Another dead end – he is now staying in Naples.

“The €25 million that Aurelio De Laurentiis asks for Zapata is too high, however everyone has the right to ask for what they want.

“This day we will have talks with several Italian teams, we talked with Milan, then we will also talk with Inter and Napoli.

“He could be an ideal player for the Premier League.”
