Liverpool have agreed a deal with Derby County for Andre Wisdom.
Wisdom spent the last four seasons out on loan, one of which included the 2013/14 campaign with the Rams.
More recently the Reds defender, 24, has the previous nine months with Red Bull Salzburg as they went on to secure an Austrian league and cup double.
Derby’s opening offer for Wisdom originally fell short of Liverpool’s expectations with a £1 million approach standing at only half of the player’s asking price.
But further talks have seen the Championship club strike an initial £2m deal with add-ons taking the Reds’ overall potential fee to £4.5m.
Several clubs had expressed interest in Wisdom including Birmingham City and Celtic, whose manager Brendan Rodgers handed him regular first-team football at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp has not included the versatile centre-back in his long-term plans, with a number of clubs interested in the former England under-21 international.
In total, the Leeds-born player has made 22 senior outings for Liverpool and a combined 38 overall with spells at West Brom and Norwich City.
