Mohamed Salah’s agent has hinted that Liverpool are ‘waiting too long’ to sign the winger.
Attempts by the Reds to land the Egypt international reached an impasse in the past week as Roma continue to hold out for a deal worth around €40 million (£35.2m).
Salah turned down the chance to move to Anfield in summer 2014 in favour of a switch to Premier League rivals Chelsea, where he struggled to make an impact.
Successive loan spells in Serie A followed with Fiorentina and Roma before the latter made his stay in the Italian capital a permanent one.
But Salah could again be on the move after just 12 months with the Rome club as Jurgen Klopp targets the former Chelsea man as a key addition to his squad.
However with negotiations stalling, Liverpool’s attention has turned to Sporting Lisbon’s Gelson Martins as an alternative to the 24-year-old.
That has seen the player’s representative Ramy Abbas Issa taken an apparent bar at Liverpool on social media amid their continued stand-off with Roma.
Issa, who had agreed personal terms with the club for Salah, wrote on Twitter “Sometimes, good things come to those who don’t wait too long”.
