Liverpool FC join race for Salah alternative

Liverpool are now in the running for Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa.

Juventus and Manchester City have both been tracking Costa and have been joined by the Reds according to reports in Germany.

According to Bild, Jurgen Klopp is looking at bringing the Brazil international to Anfield after encountering difficulties in his pursuit of Roma’s Mohamed Salah.

It is believed that terms had been agreed with Salah’s agent but the Serie A giants are holding firm in their demands for a fee in the region of €40 million (£35.2m).

With Liverpool said to be growing frustrated with Roma’s hardball stance, a want-away Costa has emerged as a viable alternative to the Egyptian.

The 26-year-old has endured a difficult season with the Bundesliga champions as he struggled to retian a regular starting role in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Bayern are looking to command a fee of £35m for Costa, who managed seven goals and nine assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for the club.
