Liverpool FC make pre-contract offer to Iker Casillas

Iker Casillas has reportedly received a pre-contract approach to join Liverpool.

Casillas’ current deal with FC Porto is set to expire next summer, which has sparked a scramble for the veteran former Real Madrid goalkeeper’s signature.

The 36-year-old’s CV saw him lift the Champions League three times, five La Liga titles for Real alongside two European Championships and the World Cup with Spain.

Anfield officials are said to have tabled a bid to lure Casillas amid offers from other unnamed Premier League clubs and ones in Turkey, Qatar and China.

Spanish newspaper AS claim that Liverpool’s offer is already being considered one of the more enticing currently on the table for the veteran stopper.

Last summer Jurgen Klopp enlisted ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger to offer a wealth of experience in challenging the club’s first-choice Simon Mignolet.

Loris Karius also arrived to provide competition to Mignolet but endured a difficult start to his career in England and was later displaced by the Belgian.
