Robbie Fowler believes Liverpool should try to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer.
Lukaku has recorded an emphatic 25 Premier League goals for Everton as they look to secure a Europa League qualification place at the end of this term.
Meanwhile the Reds have endured a series of injury problems with Daniel Sturridge regularly sidelined and Sadio Mane’s campaign also recently curtailed.
And Anfield legend Fowler has urged Jurgen Klopp to make an audacious move in raiding their Goodison Park counterparts for the Belgium international.
“I’ve got a solution for Liverpool ’s problems that will turn them into genuine title contenders… but Everton won’t like it!” he told the Daily Mirror.
“Buy Romelu Lukaku. There, I’ve said it.
“Let’s face it, he is leaving in the summer and Jurgen Klopp needs a proper striker to lead his line if he’s going to win the Premier League.
“I have a theory that Bayern Munich will try to sign Lukaku in the summer – after selling Robert Lewandowski to Real Madrid.
“But if he’s leaving Goodison, why not move to Anfield?
“Lukaku doesn’t have quite the attributes to play the pressing game demanded by Klopp, but he does stay up there and asks constant questions of teams who defend deep.
“If the Reds can win their next four games, then they will be in the Champions League, I’m sure. And that will let them attract some top players.
“I know it sounds mad, but I’m convinced that Lukaku should be one of them.”
