Southampton are set to rival Everton in their pursuit of Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Ronald Koeman is preparing to revisit his plans to land the influential midfielder as Swansea City face up to the prospect of Premier League relegation this term.
Irrespective of their top flight fate, the Welsh club are expected to demand a fee in the region of £35 million for Sigurdsson amid interest from several clubs.
Chief among them are the Blues, who failed in their attempts to prise the Iceland international from the Liberty Stadium following Koeman’s arrival last summer.
But they will now face stern opposition, with West Ham and prospective Premier League newcomers Newcastle already emerging as potential suitors.
And the Daily Mail claim that Koeman’s former club Southampton are preparing to join the race for Sigurdsson, who has scored nine goals in 35 games.
The 28-year-old was previously targeted by Everton’s local rivals Liverpool in 2012 but erstwhile manager Brendan Rodgers lost out to Tottenham.
