Everton FC agree Tom Cleverley transfer to Watford

Tom Cleverley’s Everton career will end this summer after Watford agreed a permanent deal for the midfielder.

Cleverley rejoined the Hornets on loan in the January transfer window due to a lack of regular first-team opportunities under Ronald Koeman this season.

The former England international originally moved to the Blues on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2015 during Roberto Martinez’s time in charge.

He made a total of 42 appearances for Everton in an 18-month period but will see his switch to Vicarage Road made permanent for an undisclosed fee on July 1.

Scott Duxbury, Watford’s chief executive, said: “We’re very pleased to secure Tom’s signature.

“I believe it’s a sign of our ambition to recruit the highest calibre of player for Watford.

“Tom’s affinity with the club and supporters has been very clear from the moment he returned, and we now look forward to seeing him in a Watford shirt for many years to come.”
