Everton will have to break their own transfer record to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Sigurdsson was targeted by Ronald Koeman in successive transfer windows but failed to convince Swansea City to part with their influential midfielder.
The Welsh club had previously been understood to be willing to sell the Iceland international to the Blues for a fee in the region of £20 million and £25m.
But the Swans’ hierarchy are set to demand that Everton sanction a club-record fee of £35 million in order to land one of Koeman’s key targets this summer.
That figure would comfortably surpass the £28m paid to Chelsea in 2014 to secure the services of current top scorer Romelu Lukaku.
Other Premier League sides are in the hunt for the 27-year-old, with the Daily Mirror claiming that West Ham have also expressed an interest in the player.
Sigurdsson has scored nine times for Swansea this season as they aim to secure their top-flight survival under Paul Clement.
