Emre Can’s Liverpool FC future on hold until summer

Jurgen Klopp is planning to address Emre Can’s Liverpool future this summer.

The Germany international will enter the final 12 months of his current Anfield contract after negotiations over a new deal with the Reds reached an impasse.

Can is understood to be seeking a deal worth £100,000 per week – more than double his current salary at Anfield – before pledging his long-term future.

Juventus as well as several Bundesliga clubs have emerged as potential suitors for the midfielder should he decide against signing a new deal with Liverpool.

But according to the Liverpool Echo, renewed talks are planned during the close season in a bid to resolve the situation after discussions were halted at Christmas.

Klopp remains keen to retain Can’s services beyond the current campaign and sees him as an integral part in his long-term vision for Liverpool.

The 23-year-old, signed by Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers, has made 29 appearances this season but has struggled with consistency during that time.
