Sakho secures Liverpool FC loan exit

Mamadou Sakho secured a deadline day exit from Liverpool as the defender was allowed to join Crystal Palace.

Sakho wanted to remain in the Premier League after falling out of favour under Jurgen Klopp, who sent him home from the Reds’ pre-season tour for rule breaking.

Southampton had been a forerunner to sign the former France international but the EFL Cup finalists’ offer of a loan failed to find favour wth Anfield chiefs.

Liverpool had hoped to recoup their original £18 million outlay for the player, who had since been banished to the club’s under-23 side by Klopp.

With the clock ticking on transfer deadline day, however, that compromised to allow Palace to take Sakho on a loan deal for the rest of the current season.

Sam Allardyce has turned to the 26-year-old as the London club continue to battle relegation with a win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
