Liverpool FC on verge of securing France international striker

Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of finally securing the transfer of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The pacy Ligue 1 marksman was expected to sign for the Reds ahead of the current season but talks were understood to have broken down.

However a move now looks increasingly likely after the player himself expressed a desire to move on this summer.

He said: “I’m focused on this season and perhaps after that, I will leave.

“It is possible to go to the Premier League and Lyon is aware of this.”

Liverpool were quoted £22 million for Lacazette last summer, after he finished as Ligue 1’s top scorer last season, with 27 goals, but could now secure a deal for around £18 million.

And former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier believes his compatriot has the potential to be among the world’s best.

“He (Lacazette) can be world-class. He’s a very dedicated professional so if he looks after himself he can become really top notch”, said Houllier.
