Real Madrid striker rejects Liverpool FC transfer

Liverpool have failed in their efforts to land Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz Mejia.

Mariano has risen through the ranks at the Bernabeu and finally graduated to Zinedine Zidane’s squad from the club’s second string Castilla this summer.

The Dominican Republic international reportedly attracted the Reds interest scored five times in nine outings for the current La Liga leaders this season.

But the allure of Anfield has failed to convince Mariano to leave Real, where competition for attacking places is sparse due to a star-studded front line.

According to Eco Dario, the 23-year-old has rebuffed Liverpool’s enquiries as he prepares to fight for his place with the reigning European champions.
