Everton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he is targeting Burnley defender Michael Keane.
The former Manchester United player is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs as the Clarets aim to consolidate their top-flight status this season.
Manchester City are among those credited with interest in Keane, 24, ahead of the January transfer window closing tomorrow night, as are the Blues.
And Koeman has revealed that Everton have identified the ex-England under-21 international as a potential incoming but concedes other clubs are also in the hunt.
He said: “Yes, he is one of that list, like some more defenders in that position.
“He’s a young English defender but I heard he is on more lists in different teams.
“It’s what we need for next season and the future. If we sign a player it’s that player who brings what we don’t have.
“If it’s not possible today or tomorrow we will wait until the summer when it’s easier than in January.”
