Everton FC reject Sunderland transfer approach

Everton have rejected an approach from Sunderland for left back Bryan Oviedo.

Former Blues boss David Moyes has been linked with a move for the Costa Rican international as he looks to strengthen his relegation-threatened side.

But the Black Cats are reportedly not the only side interested in his services, with several Championship clubs also thought to be keen on luring him away.

The full-back has not featured since a 5-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in November and questions have been continually raised about his future on Merseyside.

However, it seems he will not be departing Goodison Park this month as Ronald Koeman is keen to keep him as back up for Leighton Baines.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have already rebuffed a Sunderland approach to take him to the Stadium of Light before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

Oviedo’s long-term future at the club is far from being settled, though, with doubts remaining about whether he has convinced Koeman.
