Liverpool FC defensive duo eyed for transfer swoop

Bournemouth are reportedly targeting Liverpool duo Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez.

Sakho is on the verge of securing his Anfield exit with a host of clubs from England and across the continent currently chasing the defensive outcast.

And the Cherries have joined the likes of Europa League holders Sevilla, Galatasaray and Southampton in pursuing the former France international.

But with the Reds holding out for a permanent deal for Sakho, who remains exiled to the club’s under 23 set-up, Eddie Howe is likely to be frustrated in his efforts.

The Daily Mail claim that the Bournemouth boss is also keen on Gomez after Chelsea recalled Nathan Ake from his loan spell at the Vitality Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp handed Gomez a comeback from his 15-month injury spell in last weekend’s FA Cup stalemate with Plymouth but could consider a loan switch.

Liverpool’s existing relationship with Bournemouth saw Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith both join the South Coast club last summer and is said to be a factor in Howe’s optimism that a deal can be reached.
