Liverpool FC plot £22m bid for Copa America star

Liverpool are lining up a summer move for Benfica striker Raul Jimenez.

Jimenez helped the Portuguese champions to a league and cup double last season and has scored eight times for the Portuguese champions this term.

But the Mexico international has reportedly attracted interest from the Reds as Jurgen Klopp eyes additions to his front line in the next transfer window.

Squawka claim that Liverpool see Jimenez as the ideal candidate to bolster their squad amid concerns over the long-term fitness of Daniel Sturridge.

The 25-year-old previously attracted the interest of West Ham prior to leaving Atletico Madrid in summer 2015 but failed to appear for a proposed medical.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will not be pursuing a move for Joe Hart this summer.

Hart had reportedly told friends he would ‘jump at the chance’ to secure a move to Anfield, where goalkeepers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius are in situ.

But Klopp is understood to be planning to persevere with Karius despite a series of high-profile errors during the opening months of a debut season in England.
