Everton FC face fresh competition for Depay

Everton must stave off competition from Roma in their pursuit of Memphis Depay.

Ronald Koeman had previously ran unopposed in his bid to land the Manchester United winger but the Serie A outfit have emerged as potential suitors.

United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Depay and unwanted midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin can both leave Old Trafford next month.

But the Blues are set to face challenges for both players as Roma registered their interest in Depay while West Brom continue to target a move for Schneiderlin.

Both players are understood to prefer securing moves to Goodison Park in January but United are keen to recoup their original outlays on the pair.

Depay’s arrival from PSV Eindhoven cost £28 million while the Red Devils paid £24M to prise Schneiderlin away from Southampton, both in summer 2015.

Tottenham were previously credited with interest in pursuing the Dutch winger.
