Koeman confident of Everton FC backing in January overhaul

Ronald Koeman is confident that he will be backed in plans to overhaul Everton’s squad in January.

Koeman will continue restocking his ranks at Goodison Park next month, with Manchester United’s Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin set to be among the arrivals.

The Blues manager has already tied down the futures of Gareth Barry, Leighton Baines and Mason Holgate while a new contract for Romelu Lukaku is reportedly in the works.

But Koeman expects to be afforded both the time and resources over the next two transfer windows to shape the squad to his needs.

“We know that due to the people we have inside the club that this is a project which is for the long term,” he told NOS.

“And it does not mean that you are fighting for trophies within six months of arriving at a new club.

“We need to invest not only in January, but also in the next summer transfer window.

“I believe that the club are aware of this and that I will receive the time. But it is not easy to get time within football these days.”
