Everton FC face Spurs challenge for January target

Everton will face competition from Tottenham in their efforts to land Memphis Depay.

Depay is expected to leave Manchester United during next month’s transfer window after failing to claim a regular first-team place under Jose Mourinho.

Ronald Koeman has made the Blues’ interest in the winger but they will now have to fight off a host of clubs including Spurs.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Mauricio Pochettino is set to rival his successor as Southampton manager for Depay’s signature.

Goodison Park officials previously went head to head with their north London counterparts last summer as they lost out in the battle for midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Several other sides are also said to be tracking the out-of-favour Holland  international, including Roma, Wolfsburg and Nice.
