Everton FC line up bid for Champions League midfielder

Everton are planning a January move for CSKA Moscow midfielder Alan Dzagoev.

Dzagoev was watched by Blues director of football Steve Walsh during his side’s Champions League defeat to Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Both Spurs and West Ham have previously targeted the Russia international and the latter could rival Everton for his signature in next month’s transfer window.

Ronald Koeman is setting his sights on Dzagoev as part of his squad overhaul and, according to the Liverpool Echo, is prepare to explore a January bid.

Speaking about Tottenham’s 2012 interest, the 26-year-old admitted earlier this week that he would relish the prospect of moving to the Premier League.

He said: “I was ready to play in England, ready to move. but CSKA didn’t receive a firm offer.

“I like the English Premier League so to play for a serious English club would be great for me.

“I don’t remember interest from other English clubs.”
