Liverpool FC striker Christian Benteke launches attack on Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has hit out at Jurgen Klopp over the handling of his Anfield career.

Benteke’s appearances for the Reds have become sporadic since Klopp succeeded Brendan Rodgers last October and the £32 million marksman has been largely restricted to cameo outings from the substitutes’ bench.

On the rare occasions that the Belgium international has been afforded run-outs, there has been no shortage of controversy, with Klopp recently chastising the 25-year-old during last weekend’s defeat to Southampton.

But Benteke has today broken his silence on his personal frustrations with the Liverpool manager, who previously admitted targeting Benteke during his time in charge at Borussia Dortmund.

“Some team-mates have said that I was lucky with the arrival of Klopp, because I certainly would play,” he told Sport/Voetbalmagazine.

“When your coach says he wanted to take you to Dortmund and a little later you sit at the same club and he ignores you, it is hard to understand.

“I do not understand why people say that (I cannot fit in at Liverpool).

“I can play pressing and moving a lot. It is not that we play in the Barcelona style.”
