Liverpool duo Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho have been left out of Brazil’s squad for this summer’s Olympic games.
The pair were both a part Brazil’s underwhelming Centenary Copa América campaign that saw Brazil fail to make it past the group stages of the competition and their international manager sacked.
The Liverpool stars were not expected to take part in the Olympic games having already featured in one football tournament this summer, but any remaining doubts were ended today after the squad was announced.
The playmakers bagged 23 goals and provided 18 assist between them for the Reds this season and have emerged as key players under new manager Jurgen Klopp.
Both players will have the benefit of a full pre-season programme at Melwood as well as being available for the first three weeks of the Premier League 2016-17 season.
No other Liverpool players are expected to be called up for the games.
