Liverpool have been charged over fracas after the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Wednesday’s 2-2 draw saw fiery scenes at the final whistle with Arne Slot, his deputy Sipke Hulshoff and Curtis Jones among those to receive red cards.
The Football Association has charged the Reds with failing to control their players and technical staff during the tempestuous post-match scenes.
Slot is accused of allegedly acting in an improper manner and/or using insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards the match officials.
Hulshoff will face an identical charge after he was issued with a red card in the Goodison tunnel by referee Michael Oliver after the 245th derby clash.
Liverpool have until Wednesday, February 19 to answer the charge, leaving Slot free to oversee for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Wolves.
However the Dutchman could be hit with an extended touchline ban, having already serve a suspension earlier this season for picking up three bookings.
Slot admitted on Friday that ’emotions got the better’ of him at Goodison while explaining the reasons for his frustrations boiling over after the game ended.
He said: “Many things happened in extra time that led to me being quite emotional
“There was a VAR incident for two minutes where he checked. I thought maybe the only thing that could happen was he looked back at the foul.
“Then I thought: ‘Maybe it’s offside?’ Then of course you hear their fans cheering and you think: ‘OK, it wasn’t offside.’
“Many things happened in extra time but, like I said, it wouldn’t be smart to go into every single incident.”
