Liverpool add ex-Ireland man to coaching staff

Liverpool have continued their backroom shake-up with a new addition.

David Breen will take up residence as the new first-team rehabilitation physio at Anfield following a recent spell working with the Republic of Ireland national team.

The former hurler, 39, also had spells in the academy setups of both Manchester City and Celtic alongside rugby union outfits Munster, Leinster and Wasps.

Na Piarsaigh, who he represented in the sport, confirmed news of his appointment.

“Davy has taken up the role of first-team physio with Liverpool and we’re all immensely proud in Na Piarsaigh today”, read a post on their X, formerly Twitter, account.

Breen will work under the club’s head of rehabilitation Lee Nobes and becomes the department’s second addition following Robin Sadler’s arrival earlier this season.

Arne Slot is expected to draft in another new face as analyst Roderick Van der Ham is set to reunite with his former head coach after recently leaving Feyenoord.
