Liverpool unveil 1970s-inspired 23/24 home kit

Liverpool have unveiled their new home kit for the 2023/24 season.

Nike’s reimagined bright-red design contains a white crew neck and matching cuffs in homage to the strip worn in Bill Shankly’s final campaign in charge.

The Reds ended that season as FA Cup winners after trouncing Newcastle at Wembley before Shankly announced his shock retirement just months later.

A tribute to the victims of Hillsborough continues to feature on the nape of the neck to commemorate the 97 victims unlawfully killed in the tragedy.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will debut the kit in their final home game of this season against Aston Villa on May 20, which will be Anfield’s last in its current guise.

The stadium’s capacity is set to increase by 7,000 seats in the summer when an expansion of the Anfield Road Stand will reach its final completion stage.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said: “The new home shirt is a classic.

“Given the inspiration behind the design it feels iconic and a nod to the history of this great club.

“We’re looking forward to wearing it at Anfield for the Villa game.”

Liverpool’s 2023/24 home kit is available to pre-order now both online and in the club’s official stores for delivery on its official launch day on May 18.
