Liverpool and Man Utd hold pre-season talks

Liverpool have entered into pre-season friendly talks with Manchester United.

Both clubs were among six English teams to withdraw from the European Super League on Tuesday against a backdrop of vehement opposition.

The Reds’ principal owner John Henry issued a public apology to Jurgen Klopp, his first-team squad and supporters for the error of judgement.

However Anfield chiefs are looking ahead to next season and the prospect of Covid-19 travel restrictions limiting their preparations for the new campaign.

According to The Times, that has taken the form of home friendlies with North West rivals United which would take place over the summer months.

The opening game between the Premier League giants could be held at Old Trafford in late July with a return fixture happening at Anfield in early August.

Liverpool and United’s last non-competitive meeting came during the 2018 International Champions Cup, when Jurgen Klopp’s side ran out 3-1 winners.
