Sadio Mane admits a second-place finish is among Liverpool’s targets this season.
Saturday’s emphatic win over West Ham saw the Reds leapfrog Manchester United for 24 hours before their rivals’ ensuing 2-1 defeat of Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp downplayed his side’s recent ascent in the Premier League table, with United able to overtake them again in their clash against the champions.
But Mane revealed that Liverpool have still set their sights on aiming to finish immediately behind a runaway Manchester City at the end of the campaign.
He said: “It’s one of the targets.
“Honestly Man City is too far [ahead] so it will be difficult to catch them.
“But it’s still possible to be in the second and we’re going to do our best to stay there.”
